Dear Mr. Hudson,
this Saturday morning, the 1st of November 2008, you let go off your life and you are free now from the pains and sorrows of the last couple of weeks.
With this small letter we, Maya, Thomas, Jonathan, Ueli and all of our friends that were lucky enough to meet you, would like to tell you how special you were and will always be and that we will always remember you and all the good times we had together…
I remember so well the day last year when you arrived at our beach the first time asking for employment. You took your hat off and were looking to the ground while speaking to my mom in such a quite way, we could barley understand you. We needed exactly YOU and we employed you but didn’t know at that time, that this would be the best choice that we would ever make in the process of our project.

From the first day on you were always up the first, sitting in your garden taking care of the plants and herbs. It was fascinating to see the passion with which you were fulfilling your work. After only some weeks you created a paradise garden including many plants and herbs you have probably never even heard of.

Soon we all enclosed you deep in our hearts and you became our most hard working, most loyal and reliable worker and friend. You opened up to us within the first weeks. From then on you turned from one of the shiest and most anxious workers to the funny, happy and even critical person you are today. You were always there for us, especially for Maya, and for that we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We remember so many great, funny, emotional but also frustrating moments that we went through together.

We remember walking into the garden seeing you sitting in between your plants. You were always in a happy mood and you always showed us around in the garden, explaining us about the different plants and methods how you planted them. We all learned so much from working with you and having you around as a friend.

Jonathan and me remember walking through the maize fields in the hills together with you. You stopped by the great plants and you were fascinated by the crops with several cobs on… “ih,ih,ih… ah,ah,ah…”

In the same way we tried to teach you some things about our world back in Switzerland. You were fascinated by the pictures of the snowy mountains and you couldn’t believe your eyes when we showed you our snowboard video from last winter.
Your excitement will for ever stay in our heads… “ah, ah, ah Mr. Jonathan” or “aaaaah guuuud” or “iiiiiiih Madame!” and folding your hands over each other when you were really, really happy or something very special just happened.

You were and will always be one of the strongest, happiest, most passionate and good hearted persons in our lives. We are endlessly thankful for everything you’ve done for us, as a friend and worker. And we hope that we could make you feel the same way as you made us feel and that this last year of your life was one of your best ones!

We promise to take care of your sons and your wife and make sure they will have a good future waiting for them.

At this point we would like to say goodbye to you but you will always be around us and in our thoughts and our heart and you will always remain part of our common project… take good care of yourself!

“Tikumana nengo ina!”
Yours sincerely Maya, Thomas, Jonathan, Ueli and friends
